Dark Debt (Chicagoland Vampires #11) by Chloe Neill

Dark Debt - Chloe Neill

Ethan and Merit never seems to have a quiet night in their lives. Not only Ethan's maker miraculously came back to life and is knocking on Codogan's door wielding glamour Merit had never felt before, but also Merit's nearly-ex-boyfriend Morgan is in big trouble. Everything is spinning out of control and there is no time to waste. Lives have to be saved, enemies defeated and still there has to be time to squeeze in some alone time with friends and sexy Master Vampire. Well, the night is long, but maybe sometimes not long enough.

My thoughts

Dark Debt is a great read, it's dramatic, funny, maybe sometimes a little predictable but all in all it is a book worth of waiting for and the fans of Merit and Ethan won't be disappointed. I highly recommend it.

Thoughtful by S.C. Stephens

Thoughtful (A Thoughtless Novel) - S. C. Stephens

Life of Kellan Kyle was filled with music, fast women and tortured past. Being abused by his own parents while growing up, convinced Kellan that he will never achieve anything meaningful in his life or that he ever be wanted by anyone. Growing up with an abusive father and with a mother who didn't give a shit about him and all she saw looking at him were her life mistakes, made Kellan's childhood and teenage years almost unbearable, almost. The bright spot in his teenage years was one year of his life, a year when his parents decided to host an exchanged student from Australia, Danny. For that one year Kellan and Danny connected and bonded like brothers and for that one year life in his home was bearable for Kellan. Unfortunately Denny had to go back to Australia and Kellan's life turn right back to nightmare. But even when he left home as soon as he could and when his parents died, Kellan always kept in touch with Denny, his friend, his brother.

When one day Denny called Kellan and announced that he and his girlfriend were moving to Seattle and asked Kellan to help them find a place to stay, without second thought Kellan proposed moving in together. Denny was his best friend so what could go wrong, right?

The moment Denny and his girlfriend, Kiera, come live with Kellan things start to shift. Kiera is smart, beautiful and innocent, and so right for Denny, therefor out of reach. She represents everything that Kellan wants and never had in his life - warmth, beauty and love. Knowing that Kiera is his best friend's girl and knowing that she will never look at him the way she looks at Denny, Kellan starts to feel strange pain in his chest.

Because of his work, Denny has to leave town for some time and Kellan is left with heartbroken Kiera and a warning from Denny, to not to touch his girl while he is away. It should be easy, Denny is his friend, his brother, he would never do anything to hurt him. But the days spent with Kiera the times it feels like she sees him, the real him, the bond they're creating while Denny is away, the warmth that her presence fill him with, all of that push Kellan over the edge. When all you want is in front of you, and is hurt and lonely like you, what would you do?

When Kiera and Denny break up and Kellan is free to take what he wants, everything is starting to look up for him. At least it was for about 24 hours until Denny came back. Now Kellan feeling like he betrayed his best friend and his feelings for the girl who was never his and probably never will be, is torn between his loyalty and his heart.

My Thoughts

Heartfelt story of romance, heartache, pain and happiness. If you've read Thoughtless than you know Kiera's point of view but Kellan's is so much devastating and beautiful. Normally I'm against of reading the same book from different POV simply because, most of the time, authors skip through some scenes deciding that the readers already had read the "original" so why dwell on some of the details. It makes the books often incoherent and chopped up for me. But Thoughtful is not that kind of book (Thank God!). The author didn't skip or left out anything. It is a wonderful book and if you ever thought that you loved Kellan Kyle before, well just wait until you've read his point of view. Hearts will be breaking and tears will be spilled. Thoughtful is a must read for all Kiera and Kellan's fans. I highly recommend it

Darkness Falls

Darkness Falls - Keri Arthur Okay, so I do have a problem with this series and to be honest, I'm glad it's finally over.

The last book of Dark Angels series wasn't bad at all, I just feel that it was a little anti climatic and forced. All the bad guys were dealt in quick and in short amount of time and considering the built up to it, I have to say it wasn't worth the wait.

I'm giving this series 2,5 stars but since goodreads doesn't allow halves, 3 it is.

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

Heir of Fire - Sarah J. Maas

Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass #3)

As broken as Celaena Sardothien felt after the death of her dearest friend, Nehemia, and after breaking her relationship with Chaol, she thought that she couldn't feel any worse, or that she will never feel again expect for self-loathing and numbness that covered her heart and soul. But as her heritage is being brought up and she has to face who she is and what she represents and who she was born to be, the anger and fear inside her have no bounds and just like the numbness are trying to swallow her whole.

While Celaena fights her own battle with herself, Prince Dorian is fighting his own. The magic inside him grows stronger with each passing day and he has no knowledge and no means to stop it surfacing, and if his father ever found out about it, he and anyone close to him, would be killed. Estranged with Chaol, because all the secret both of them started to keep from one another, Dorian has no one to talk to and no one to save him from himself.

In the meantime Chaol is struggling with the knowledge that Celaena left him with. With a secret of her real identity. Chaol has to make serious choices about who he should serve and protect.

Will they all find the answers to their questions? If they do, will they embrace their fate or will they crumble and hide? Find out reading Heir of Fire. This book kept me on emotional rollercoster through the whole book. Great read and unexpected developments. Just read and enjoy.

Fighting Destiny - Amelia Hutchins
"Love is more than just feeling something Syn, it's the connection of two souls that intertwine and cannot be without the other. It's not just saying you love someone, it’s showing them with every fucking breath you take, every look. It just is, simple as that. That kind of love doesn't die. It withers the soul without the other to keep it alive."

Stormrise

Stormrise - Skye Knizley To be honest the story itself wasn't bad, but the style of writing is terrible. Every other sentence is finished with exclamation mark. It's like when the author had doubts what she should put at the end of the sentence she just decided that "!" is the answer for everything :/

"Broken Dove" by Kristen Ashley

Broken Dove - Kristen Ashley

Ilsa never had the easy life. Her parents didn't really care about and her father always had a negative view on world and everything around him, so when one day she met Apollo "Pol" Ulfr, handsome and powerful man, who showered her with gifts and affection, no wonder she decided to marry him and get away from her home. She didn't even care that he was a Drug Lord, because she was finally happy and free to do whatever she wanted, at least that was what she had thought. Very quickly her fairy tell turned into nightmare. Constant biting and mental abusing manage to do what her father didn't, they had broken her.

Now 3 years on the run from the man, she thought she loved at some point, she's alone and scared, but what is worse, he managed to find her. This time she is ready to defend herself, or at least she is ready to die trying rather than come back to him. When nothing goes as she had planned, and she is about to be taken back, the unimaginable thing happens. There are two Apollos standing in her room and they are fighting each other, and next thing she knows she's on a soft bed somewhere with the "good" Apollo. She than learns that she was taken to the other world, the world where everyone have a twin to people from her's, and that she is a twin to "good" Apollo's wife, and that Apollo is the one who took her out of her world. How fantastical is that?

Unfortunately from the very beginning it is clear, that Apollo regrets taking Ilsa 'cause she is a reminder of his loss. He can barely look at her and not see his beautiful but dead wife so he tries to distance himself from her and leaves her with his man to look after her. But Ilsa, free for the first time of her life, takes this opportunity to start her life a new, and discover who she is or who she want's to be in this new, fantastical world.

Everything is going fine until she meets with Apollo again and tells him, she wants to leave his care and stand on her own. She is sure there would be no problem with Apollo letting her go, since he can't even stay with her in the same room without wanting to be gone as soon as possible. So she is shocked when he denies her request and tells her she is to stay with him or she can go to his home and look after his children and those choices are the only one she gets.

Not able to face the unknown children, she goes with Apollo. When the desire between them stirs, witches to meddle in their business, and a war on this new world brews near, will Ilsa and Apollo be able to put their past behind them and face the future together, or will their past destroy what they could had have?

My Thought

Great beautifully told story of a broken woman and a broken man. Story of "love conquers all" kind and, from now on, one of my favorites of Kristen Ashley's books. I recommend it to everyone who is a fun of K.A. works and to all who loves good love stories. I literally couldn't put the book down.

My Thoughts

Okay, to honest I have a really hard time in rating this book. It took me almost a week to read it and it was because I didn't know which way I wanted the story to continue. I'm still not totally convinced that I like the ending and to be honest, without the 1st book - which I actually loved - I would rate it higher, but because I know the WHOLE story I'm not quite comfortable with the ending.
